Need I really say more? From their movies spoofs to adorable dance moves, they were a duo that entertained everyone throughout the shows.
With Amit Ji being awarded 40 years in Indian Cinema ( with the nostalgic Don song playing) and Madhuri Dixit for 25 years, it was a night of recognition.
Even Sonu Nigam entertained us with My Heart Will Go On and a quick trip to the audiences to mingle with the guests.
Awards wise, there really wasn’t much of a suprise although I was so overjoyed that Kajol bagged Best Actress for MNIK.

It is a little late and perhaps even outdated, but I just watched Guzaarish, starring Hrithik Roshan as Ethan Mascarenhas. After Saawariya, I’ve been a little skeptical regarding Mr Bansali’s films, but Guzaarish blew me away. I might be a little bias on this because themes of magic are always my personal favourite, but so be it.
Firstly, I totally understood why Hrithik won Best Actor for this film. He played Ethan amazingly well. Playing an actor with quadriplegia (an illness where there is partial or total loss of use of all their limbs and torso), he was given the difficult task to show emotions only when he can speak and move his head. Yet, in all the scenes, not once did Ethan fell short of showing how his felt, sometimes even without the usage of words. The plot revolves around Ethan Mascarenhas who was once a world-class magician. After an accident, he suffered from quadriplegia for fourteen long years and is appealing in court for euthanasia. Initially, he is violently objected from all his loved ones who believe he is doing extremely well. Ethan has his own radio show, Radio Zindagi and even published a critically-acclaimed book. It sounds like a dark picture, a quadriplegic wanting to end his life. Yet, Ethan speaks messages of live, love and hope which he avidly tells all his listeners. The flashbacks which brings us back to Ethan’s life of fame as a world class magician is apt and timely. There wasn’t too many that it would bore you and enough to give you a peek at the grandeur associated with Ethan Mascarenhas. I was stunned by one of the shows where he cut off his assistant’s, Estelle Francis (played by model Monikangana Dutta) head throughout a classy dance sequene. Hrithik, being the graceful dancer that he is, pulled off the routine with much grace and style.
Credit has to be given to Aditya Roy Kapoor. Admittedly, the first time I set eyes on this cute VJ-turned-actor was as Bunty in Action Replayy. Similiarities can be drawn from both Bunty and Omar Siddique but it was in his playful eyes and heartwarming smile that lightened the film, which would have otherwise been a dark, brooding romance.
And what kind of Guzaarish’s movie review would this be if I did not talk about Sophia? Decked in long thick frocks with surreal hairdos, Sophia De Souza was a woman of dark depression and romance all intertwined into one. Her presence in Ethan’s life is pivotal yet she wasn’t overbearing. Aish was brilliant in this role and I just loved how from time to time,you could see in her eyes, the silent lingering desperation that she felt with Ethan. And need I say more about her performance in Udi? It was memorable, to say the least.
All in all, I give Guzaarish 4 out of 5 clapper boards!
